Hamden Police Targeting Distracted Drivers
Extra patrols will be out in an effort to crack down on distracted driving.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department, along with the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office, announces the continuation of the “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY.” Initiative — a combined effort to crack down on motorists who “choose to text, talk or otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving by using a hand-held mobile phone,” police announced on Tuesday.
The enforcement campaign will run from Aug. 3 through Aug. 16, according to Sgt. Anthony Diaz.
It marks the second time this year that the Hamden Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, will mobilize by adding special patrols – aimed at catching distracted drivers – especially those on their phones.
