Hamden Police Targeting Red Light Violations in New Campaign
The police department is enforcing "safe driving" in a new traffic campaign during peak driving times.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department will embark on a traffic enforcement campaign, titled “Hamden is a Safe Driving Town,” which began on Sept. 1.
Enforcement efforts will be targeted at various locations throughout the town over the two-week period, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the locations were selected based upon their close proximity to educational institutions and the commencement of the new school year.

Beginning Sept. 1, the Hamden Police Department Traffic Division will focus on “red light violations” during peak times, specifically, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30p.m. Enforcement efforts are expected to continue for a two-week period, according to Smith.

Dixwell Avenue and Connolly Parkway – (Hamden High School)
Dixwell Avenue and Sanford Street – (Hamden Middle School)
Whitney Avenue and Gillies Road – (Saint Rita’s School)
Whitney Avenue and Glendower Road – (Spring Glen Elementary School)
New locations, as well as other motor vehicle violations, will be selected at the conclusion of the two-week enforcement period, according to Smith.
