Hamden Police: Woman Cut Boyfriend 16 Times with Box Cutter During Dispute
Police found the woman hiding in a closet at her residence in New Haven.

A New Haven woman is accused of cutting her boyfriend numerous times with a box cutter in a verbal dispute that turned physical Saturday night in Hamden.
Hamden police met with the 31-year-old victim Sunday at Yale-New Haven Hospital and he told them his girlfriend, Shavoya Chin, cut him numerous times with a box cutter the previous night during the altercation that took place at his home on Arch Street.
Police said the victim sustained 16 lacerations on his body, which included wounds to his arms, chest and neck.

Hamden police, with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, located Chin, who was hiding in a closet on Young Street in New Haven. She was subsequently arrested and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.
Chin, 21, of 21 Young Street, Apartment 1L in New Haven, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Chin, who was released on a $10,000 bond, was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Monday.
