Hamden Prepares For Impending Snowstorm
Officials announce a parking ban, the closure of town offices and more.

HAMDEN, CT — In preparation of Tuesday’s impending snowstorm, town officials have announced a parking ban, the closure of town offices and the transfer station along with delaying trash and recycling collection.
The town will also open warming centers on Tuesday.
The parking ban is effective at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14 until further notice. The parking ban prohibits any person to park, or allow to remain parked, any vehicle on any odd numbered portion of a town street or highway.

The ban further prohibits any person to allow or permit a vehicle to stand or park on any town street or highway in such a manner as to constitute a hazard or obstruction to vehicular or pedestrian traffic. The Hamden Police Department is authorized, pursuant to Section 71.07 of the Code of the Town of Hamden, to remove any vehicle parked in violation of this ordinance. Such removal shall be at the risk and expense of the owner of the vehicle.
Trash and recycling pick-up beginning Tuesday, March 14, will be delayed one day due to predicted inclement weather. This means that the pick-up normally scheduled for Tuesday (3/14) will occur on Wednesday (3/15), Wednesday (3/15) pick-up on Thursday (3/16), Thursday (3/16) pick-up on Friday (3/17), and Friday (3/17) pick-up on Saturday (3/18).

Officials remind residents to have all trash and recycling at the curb prior to 6 a.m. on the day of your pick-up. Call the Mayor’s Office at (203) 287-7100 with any questions or concerns.
Additionally, the Hamden Transfer Station will be closed March 14.
Officials also announced that due to the prediction of extreme weather conditions, all non-essential town offices (Government Center, Memorial Town Hall, Libraries, Keefe Center, etc.) and the Memorial Town Hall municipal parking garage will be closed.
Additionally, Hamden will offer warming centers, located around the town, to those who may be in need. The Hamden Fire Stations and front foyer of the Police Department will serve as 24-hour warming centers. The Town encourages all residents and visitors to shelter in place whenever and wherever possible.
