Hamden Resident Killed In I-91 Fatal Accident Thursday: Report
The accident involved two vehicles and shut down the highway for several hours Thursday morning.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Mason Stasiak, 20, of Wintergreen Avenue in Hamden, has been identified as the person who was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 5 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 91 by Exit 6, according to the Connecticut Post and State Police.
Stasiak fell asleep at the wheel and ended up crashing his vehicle, the CT Post reports citing a State Police report. A Meriden man was driving near Stasiak's car and ended up rear-ending Stasiak's vehicle, which had been stopped after striking the barrier, the Connecticut Post reports. The Meriden resident was not injured. State Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
The accident shut down the highway for four hours Thursday.

Original story: NEW HAVEN, CT — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 Southbound near Exit 6, which shut down the highway for several hours Thursday morning, State Police said.

At 5:13 a.m. Troopers from Troop I-Bethany responded to the motor vehicle accident with serious injuries. AMR and New Haven Fire Department Personnel also responded. AMR transported one person to Yale-New Haven Hospital for at the time life-threatening injuries, State Police said.
Fire Department Personnel and state Department of Transportation employees assisted with the road closure. As a result of the complexity of the collision scene, the roadway was closed for several hours from Exit 8-Exit 6, and the State Police-Collision Analysis Reconstruction Squad (C.A.R.S.) was requested to assist.
One person did die as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The victim's name has not yet been released. The roadway is currently open.
