Hamden School Officials Respond to Accusations of Threatening Student Privacy
The Connecticut Education Association accused the district of disclosing student data to an education industry group.

Hamden school officials have responded to the Connecticut Education Association’s (CEA) statement that the school district has disclosed personally identifiable student data to an education industry group, the Connecticut Council on Education Reform (CCER).

Hamden Public Schools is deeply committed to respecting the privacy of our students and their families. The press release issued by CEA on May 27, 2015 includes incorrect and inflammatory information. We would like to be clear that Hamden Public School District has not released any student information that can be linked to specific students by name.

At no time did Hamden Public Schools provide our students’ Individual Education Plans to CCER or others. The data that was shared with CCER, for the purpose of advancing student achievement and improving efficiencies, is owned only by Hamden Public Schools and our agreement with CCER ensures that all information is held in the strictest of confidence and will not be shared with or sold to a third party.
