Five teens were found with a stolen car, weapons, drugs and other stolen items while trying to burglarize cars during the overnight hours.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Two Hamden teens were among the five juveniles arrested after they were found with a stolen car, weapons, drugs and other stolen items while attempting to burglarize vehicles in an apartment complex early Monday morning in Wallingford. Several of the suspects ran from police and were found hiding in a backyard by K-9 Tate. It all started at about 2:25 a.m. on Oct. 22 when several patrol units were dispatched to the Terrace Gardens apartment complex on the corner of South Elm and South Main streets on the report of juveniles pulling on car door handles, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.
Responding officers saw a group of juveniles trying to open an apartment door in the complex, Bradley said. The suspects ran away from police, jumped a fence and went into a wooded area. Officers established a perimeter and with the help of Wallingford Police K-9 Tate, four of the suspects were apprehended in the shed located in a backyard on South Elm Street, according to Bradley. A fifth suspect was found walking on the roadway.
The witness told police that the suspects were seen exiting a 2018 Honda Accord Sport, which was determined to have been stolen out of New Haven. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Bradley said police attempted to stop another vehicle that was being operated and occupied by juveniles who were believed to be connected. Police pursued the vehicle onto I-91 South, however, the pursuit was terminated in the vicinity of Exit 12.
A search of the suspects found one 15-year-old male from New Haven to be in possession of a knife, narcotics (17 Oxycodone), four cellphones, jewelry, $50 in cash and the key fob to the stolen Honda, according to Bradley. Another suspect, a 15-year-old female from Hamden was in possession of a stun gun.
