Hamden Woman Stole $41K From Local Business: Milford Police

Police say the woman worked at the business and illegally accessed the company's checkbook.

MILFORD, CT — A Hamden woman is accused of stealing more than $41,000 from a local business in Milford, police said. On Jan. 6, officers took custody of Mary Thornton, 27, of Woodbine Street, in regard to an active arrest warrant, police said.

Thornton is accused of fradulently using a business checkbook for personal use in the amount of $41,657 throughout 2017, police said.

She was an employee at the business during the time period mentioned above, police said. She is charged with three counts of second-degree forgery, two counts of second-degree larceny and third-degree larceny. She was released after posting a $25,000 bond and is due to appear in court on Jan. 3o.
