Here’s How Hamden Residents Voted In 2018 Primary Election

Here is how Hamden residents voted in Tuesday night's primary elections.

HAMDEN, CT — The battle to succeed Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in November will come down to Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Bob Stefanowski. Lamont walloped his primary challenger Joseph Ganim by 171,658 to 39,854, while Stefanowski earned 41,957 votes followed by Mark D. Boughton, 30,457, David Stemerman, 26,266, Tim Herbst, 25,091, and Steve Obstinik, 19,119.

For Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Susan Bysiewicz defeated Eva Zimmerman by a margin of 129,484 to 78,870 and on the Republican side Joe Markley defeated Erin Stewart and Jayme Stevenson. Markley earned 65,702 votes, Stewart, 45,258 and Stevenson, 27,138.

Other big winners from across the state last night include: Matthew Corey, who won his GOP primary to run for U.S. Senate against Chris Murphy, and in the 5th District congressional primary former Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes defeated her challenger Mary Glassman while on the Republican side Manny Santos defeated Ruby Corby-O’Neil and Rich DuPont. Democrats picked William Tong to run for State Attorney General and Republicans picked Sue Hatfield. For Treasurer, Democrats voted for Shawn Wooden and Republican chose Thad Gray.

In Hamden, Lamont received 4,995 votes and Ganim had 1,382. Bysiewicz garnered 3,860 votes while Zimmerman received 2,450 votes.

On the Republican side in Hamden, Stefanowski received 589 votes, while Herbst had 248 and was followed by Boughton, 238, Stemerman, 169, and Obsitnik, 161. Markley received 581 votes, while Stewart had 445 and Stevenson finished with 307.

In the Republican race for U.S. Senator, Hamden resident Dominic Rapini received 589 votes while endorsed candidate Matthew Corey had 702.

In the 17th Senatorial District, endorsed Democrat Jorge Cabrera won the race for state senator and he won in Hamden as well, receiving 956 votes while Sean Grace garnered 801 and Valerie Horsley had 763.

In the 23rd Senatorial District, endorsed Democratic candidate Dennis Bradley won the race for state senator but challenger Aaron Turner got the edge in Stratford, 337 to 262. Republicans voted for challenger Casimir "Caz" Mizera over endorsed candidate John Rodriguez, 54-16.
