James Pascarella Officially Sworn-In as Hamden's Acting Mayor

Legislative Council President James Pascarella was officially sworn in as Hamden’s acting mayor Thursday night and will serve in that position for the next six weeks until the town holds a special election to choose a replacement for Scott Jackson, whose resignation took effect on Thursday.

The special election for Hamden’s next mayor will be held on May 28, according to Kate Ramunni of the New Haven Register.

The declared candidates in the special election are Democrat Curt Balzano Leng, Jackson’s chief administrative officer, and Republican Bob Anthony, a retired former Hamden firefighter.

As a result of Pascarella’s new role, Council Pro Tem Jack Kennelly became the council’s acting president, according to Ramunni.
