Judge Rules Man Accused of Multiple Hamden Home Invasions is Not Competent to Stand Trial
A social worker testified the man has "bizarre delusions about the officers of the court."

A judge has ruled for the second time that a Hamden man facing multiple home invasion charges is not competent to stand trial because he can’t understand the charges against him nor assist his defense, according to the New Haven Register.
Randall Beach of the Register reports that Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Clifford made his ruling after a social worker testified that Jonathan Mills, 39, of Helen Street, has “bizarre delusions about the officers of the court” and believes some court personnel are “aliens from outer space” and he calls his public defender “the white witch.”
Clifford made a similar ruling in February and gave staffers at Connecticut Valley Hospital more time to try to restore Mills to competency, according to Beach.

Clifford has agreed to give an additional 90 days and scheduled the next competency hearing for July 9, according to Beach.
Mills, who also faces charges in New Haven and West Haven, was arrested by Hamden police in November for an alleged crime spree that took place between August and September.

Mills is accused of the following, according to Hamden police:
- On August 18th, the resident of a Glemby Street address confronted Mills, who had forcibly entered her home. He subsequently fled on foot. Mills had gained entry through an unlocked window. No items were taken.
- On September 15th Mills entered a Kaye Vue Drive residence through an unlocked bathroom window. Car keys and a remote control were stolen.
- Shortly thereafter, on September 15th, Mills forcibly entered another Kaye Vue Drive residence through a bathroom window. Entry into the residence was gained while the homeowner was asleep. Once inside, he tied the victim’s hands behind her back. He then tied the victim’s feet together. Mills rummaged through the 26 year-olds residence, eventually fleeing with her motor vehicle, electronic equipment and bank debit card. The victim advised police that her attacker was armed with a gun.
- On September 25th Mills entered a Mix Avenue residence through an unlocked slider door. He then pointed a handgun at the female resident and demanded money. Moments later, the resident’s husband arrived home and interrupted the home invasion/robbery. Mills fled with the homeowner’s purse and personal belongings.
- On September 26th Mills forcibly entered a Blake Road Road residence. A television was stolen in the burglary.
