Jury Decides Fate of Hamden Teen Charged with Manslaughter

He claimed he stabbed someone out of self defense.

HAMDEN, CT—Hamden resident Levon Player, 18 was found not guilty by a jury of first-degree manslaughter following a fatal stabbing.

Player claimed he acted in self defense when he stabbed Chamar Suggs, 34, on Jan. 1, according to the New Haven Register.

The fight started as a dispute between the two men, their respective girlfriends and another man. Player claimed he pulled out a knife in hopes it would end a physical confrontation when Suggs came at him, according to the Register.
