Kitten Trapped In Car Tire Rescued: Hamden Police
A 'Good Samaritan' helped rescue the kitten after the driver realized it was stuck in the tire as she was driving.

HAMDEN, CT — It wasn’t immediately known how many of its nine lives it used, but fortunately, a “Good Samaritan” helped rescue a 6-week-old kitten that was stuck in a car tire, according to police. Hamden Animal Control Officer Mitch Gibbs responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street on Aug. 14 on the report of a cat “stuck in a car tire,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the driver of the vehicle advised Gibbs that she heard the kitten “vocalizing” from within her vehicle. She immediately stopped her vehicle in a local parking lot. A “Good Samaritan,” Michael Morgillo of Hamden, immediately came to the aid of the kitten, according to Smith. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.
Smith said Morgillo was in the process of removing the “rear driver’s side tire” in an attempt to free the kitten, when Gibbs arrived. The kitten was trapped between the tire and brake pad. Morgillo “carefully repositioned and steadied the tire,” which allowed AACO Gibbs to remove the 6-week-old kitten without further injury, Smith said.
