Knife-Wielding Teen Charged in Fight at Hamden Behavioral Health Center
A 15-year-old resident at The Children's Center was arrested after charging at an 18-year-old with a knife during a dispute.

A knife-wielding 15-year-old faces several charges following an altercation with another resident at The Children’s Center, a behavioral health facility on Whitney Avenue in Hamden.
Hamden police responded to the center May 7 on the report of a dispute involving a knife, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.
Smith said investigation, conducted by Officer Sara Parker, revealed that a 15-year-old resident was involved in a verbal dispute with a fellow peer. The 15-year-old was then observed running after the peer, an 18-year-old resident, while holding a knife.

A Children’s Center staff member successfully wrapped his arms around the knife-wielding 15-year-old and disarmed him.
Police arrested the 15-year-old and charged him with second-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and threatening. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in Bridgeport on May 18.
