Man Stole Shoes, Forcibly Entered 75-Year-Old Man's Vehicle During Getaway: Hamden Police

The man is also accused of pushing a loss prevention officer while stealing the shoes from Bob's Stores.

Hamden police have arrested a Meriden man in connection with a shoplifting incident in which he is also accused of forcibly entering a vehicle driven by a 75-year-old man during his getaway.

Police responded to Bob’s Stores at 2300 Dixwell Avenue on May 5 regarding the shoplifting incident.

Investigation revealed that an individual, who was later identified as Daniel Mallory, exited the store with a new pair of sneakers and pushed a loss prevention officer and threatened to assault him, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Moments later, Mallory forcibly entered a motor vehicle that was driven by a 75-year-old Hamden resident. The elderly resident advised Mallory to get out of his vehicle in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Connolly Parkway, according to Smith.

On May 7, Hamden police received information that Mallory was walking on State Street in North Haven. Sergeant John Riordan and Sergeant John Testa responded and subsequently took Mallory into custody.

Mallory, 45, of 690 Broad Street, Apartment 3N in Meriden, was arrested on charges of third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. Mallory, who was released after posting a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 21.
