Lane Closure Announced for Skiff Street in Hamden
The lane closure is related to the work being done on the Skiff Street Bridge replacement project and motorists should expect traffic delays

HAMDEN, CT — The town of Hamden announces a lane closure that will take place on Skiff Street beginning on Thursday, Jan. 5 as part of the work being done as the town replaces the Skiff Street Bridge over the Mill River. The bridge is being replaced in multiple phases over the next few years.
Motorists should expect delays during the day on both Thursday and Friday.

United Illuminating will be conducting additional underground conduit installation during the week of January 1st, 2017, as the utility crews prepare for the bridge replacement. Starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 5th, one lane will be closed to allow for the installation of conduit. The lanes are expected to be reopened around 5 p.m. Please expect traffic delays during the day on Thursday and Friday.
The businesses along Dunkin Donuts and Skiff Street will remain open. A single lane will remain open in each direction. There will be construction equipment and workers in and around the work site, so please use caution and leave the crews plenty of space in which to work.

The Town of Hamden is replacing the Skiff Street Bridge over the Mill River in multiple phases over the next few years. Additional utility work, minor clearing and site preparation will be conducted through early spring. During this period, some minor lane closures can be expected during the work day.
Full bridge replacement construction is anticipated to begin in the early spring of 2017. The road will be open for traffic and emergency vehicles at all times; however, some minor traffic delays can be anticipated when construction vehicles enter and exit the immediate work area.
