To the Editor:
Every two years, candidates stop by to ask for our vote and we tend not to see them again. Josh, I have to say, is different. I've had several encounters with Josh, at his store Thyme and Season and in the neighborhood. Each time, I've been impressed by the energy and care with which he talks about where he wants to see Hamden in the next two years. He is a highly visible and engaging candidate.

It's no secret the state's budget gridlock has made legislators exhausted. Time after time, budget negotiations lead to same conclusion, causing property taxes to rise all over the state. Many Baby Boomers like me and my husband have experienced unexpected changes in income. We simply cannot continue to foot the bill because our legislators seem to lack the ability to share ideas and come up with viable solutions about how to move the economy forward. In my opinion they are out of touch with regular people in Hamden. Josh is a refreshing change. He relates to everyone.
Hamden has the chance to elect a leader who is actually listening to us. He's not afraid to tackle difficult problems like the town/gown relationship with Quinnipiac University. As a life-long resident of Hamden and a part-time QU professor, I have a considerable investment in the resolution of issues. I truly believe that we can peacefully and amicably co-exist with students and the university. Furthermore, Josh understands how the state budget has hurt workers in Connecticut. As a small business owner, he understands just how hard it's become to keep a business open in Connecticut. He experiences it every day.

Josh is bright. He's a critical thinker and listener. He is insightful and very dedicated to public service. He, in my opinion, he is a young Hamdenite that can make a big difference for all of us. We need Josh and more like him. We need to look to the future and stop trying to hold on to the remnants of the past that hold back the change Hamden needs.
I look forward to casting my vote for that future on August 9.
Sincerely,
Betsy Rosenblum
