To the Editor:

It is very important that Democrats in the 88th Assembly District get out and vote on August 9th. The difference between the candidates is huge and will make a big difference in Hamden’s economic future.

It was obvious to all of us who attended the LWV debate that Jim Pascarella has the experience and track record to deliver for Hamden. He has aggressively fought for state funding for our schools and parks. He has worked with our state and federal officials to secure funding for brownfield cleanups like the old “tire pond” on State St. that could be developed into a commercial property. He has stood up to Quinnipiac University when it was necessary (remember Del Sole, anyone?) and works collaboratively with them when possible.

Jim knows how things get done and has pledged to only represent the people of the 88th District and not any special interest group. Josh Elliott has declared he is “in the pocket of Working Families” and that his campaign is “as much theirs as mine.”

His focus is on national policy backed by the Working Families Party such as taxing millionaires and legalizing marijuana. He has no plan for what he will do for Hamden and no experience whatsoever of service in Hamden.

It’s very easy not to vote- especially in August, especially in a primary. But the consequence of not voting may cost Hamden immeasurably down the road.

Hamden Democrats in the 88th- we need Jim, Hamden needs Jim, make sure you vote on August 9th! And make sure you vote for Jim Pascarella on Line A! Let’s not be sorry we sat this one out.
