Man Arrested On Gun Charges Outside Bar: Hamden Police
Police say the man was in possession of a gun that was stolen out of South Carolina.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested after police say he was in the possession of a stolen gun while outside of a bar early Sunday morning. At about 2 a.m. on June 10, Hamden Police responded to the parking lot of 940 Dixwell Avenue on the report of suspicious activity, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. A concerned citizen told police that a man who was in the possession of a firearm was standing in the area, threatening patrons from a nearby bar, according to Smith.
Smith said Officer Keron Bryce detained the individual, James McKnight-Woods, who was “pacing back and forth in front of the door of the bar.” Officer John Glass located a fully loaded 9mm handgun “tucked” in fence next to the bar, according to Smith.
Police discovered that the gun was stolen in South Carolina. McKnight-Woods was subsequently arrested and taken to police headquarters.
