Man Assaulted, Robbed At Gunpoint In Hamden: Police

Police say the armed street robbery took place late Tuesday night and they are investigating after the suspects fled on foot.

HAMDEN, CT — A 23-year-old Hamden resident was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint while walking on Woodin Street Tuesday night, according to police. At about 10:45 p.m. on May 2, police responded to the area of Woodin Street and West Side Drive on the report of an armed street robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the victim was walking on Woodin Street when he was assaulted by two individuals. The victim told police that he was struck in the back of the head and knocked to the ground. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

While lying on the ground, the victim said that one of the individuals displayed a firearm. The suspects subsequently stole the victim’s cell phone and money, according to Smith.

The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot into New Haven.

The suspects are described as black males in their mid-20s and were wearing dark clothing. The suspect that displayed the firearm was further described as 5-feet, 8-inches tall with a medium build and had a “deep voice.”
