Man Charged With Burglarizing Market In Hamden: Police
Police say two men used a hammer to break into a market during an overnight burglary last month.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged in connection to an overnight burglary of the Country Food Market in Hamden last month. Hamden Police responded to the market, located at 2215 State Street, at about 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 on the report of a burglary in progress. Police were told that two men were seen leaving the store and entering a “large, white pick-up truck,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that two men used a hammer to break the front glass door. Once inside, they stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. The men then entered a vehicle, possibly a white-colored Dodge Ram, which was parked in the front of the store, according to Smith.
Detective Sean Dolan conducted an investigation, which led to an arrest warrant for Michael Ross, who was arrested March 29 at Meriden Superior Court.

Ross, 48, of Valley Street in New Haven, was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal damage to property and conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal damage to property. Ross, who was detained on a $2,500 court-ordered bond, was arraigned later in the day.
