Masked Man Attacks Elderly Resident with Knife During Home Invasion: Hamden Police

Police say the suspect knocked on the door around 10 p.m., forced his way into the home and then assaulted robbed the resident.

HAMDEN, CT — An Enfield man has been charged with assaulting and robbing a 63-year-old man during a home invasion in Hamden.

Hamden police responded to an Arch Street address at about 10 p.m. on June 3 on the report of a robbery with injuries, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the 63-year-old resident answered the door, after hearing a knock. He observed an individual, who was wearing a mask and dressed in dark clothing, holding a knife.

The individual forced entry into the residence, at which time a struggle ensued, Smith said.

The suspect punched the victim in the face and cut him several times on his arms with the knife, according to Smith.

The man also stole $540 from the victim’s clothing.

Officer Andrew Pfeiffer conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of Kenneth Mckay on June 5.

Mckay, 23, of 285 Shaker Road in Enfield, was charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault on an elderly person.

Mckay, who was detained on a $250,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 17.
