Man Charged With Robbing Teen At Bus Stop: Hamden Police
The man was arrested following an extensive investigation, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been arrested in connection to the street robbery of a West Haven teen this past winter, according to police. Hamden Police responded to the intersection of North Street and Warren Street on Jan. 11 on the report of a street robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that a 17-year-old West Haven resident was waiting at the bus stop, located on Dixwell Avenue and North Street, when she was approached by Howard Bookert and two other people. Bookert “hit her hand,” causing her cellphone to fall to the ground, and then grabbed the cellphone and ran from the scene with the two other individuals, according to Smith. Det. Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation, leading to an arrest warrant for Bookert. On Aug. 24, Det. Joseph Liguori saw Bookert operating a motor vehicle in New Haven. With the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, Bookert was arrested and turned over to the Hamden Police Department, Smith said.

Bookert, 20, of West Easton Street in Hamden, was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. Bookert, who was detained on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 7.
