Man Pistol-Whipped, Robbed While Meeting ‘Date’: Hamden Police

A man who organized a "meeting" with a woman through a dating app ended up getting pistol-whipped and robbed by two men wearing bandanas.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man who organized a “meeting” with a woman through a dating app ended up getting pistol-whipped and robbed by two men wearing bandanas late Saturday night in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and North Street at 11:55 p.m. on Oct. 19 on the report of an armed street robbery. A 30-year-old Hamden resident “organized a meeting” with a woman through a dating app and was subsequently approached by two men that demanded his belongings, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said one of the men had a gun and the victim was hit on the back of the head with a gun. Several items were stolen, including the victim’s wallet, money, credit cards and cellphone, according to Smith.

The suspects are described as follows:

Black male, 18 to 22 years old, 6-feet, 1-inch tall with a thin build, with a bandana covering his mouth.
