Man Punched Girlfriend, Smashed Her TV: Hamden Police

A man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and smashing her TV after forcing his way into her home, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man is accused of punching his girlfriend numerous times and smashing her TV after forcing his way into her home last month, according to police. Hamden Police responded to a Whitney Avenue residence on the report of an assault on Feb. 23, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Dion Williams forcibly entered his girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her, punching her numerous times, once he was inside the home. He then went to an upstairs bedroom and “smashed” her TV, according to Smith.

The victim sustained injuries to her arms, back and neck and received medical assistance from Hamden Fire Rescue, Smith said.

Officer William May conducted the investigation, which led to an arrest warrant for Dion Williams.

On March 19, Officer Christina Giori arrested Williams on Alstrum Street and took him to police headquarters, according to Smith.

Williams, 20, of Alstrum Street, was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief. Williams, who was detained on a court-ordered $7,500 bond, was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday.
