Man Shot, Several Vehicles Also Shot In Hamden: Police

Neighbors reported hearing about 5 gunshots.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are investigating a shooting that occurred just before midnight Saturday. At 11:45 p.m. police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street on the report of a shooting.

Moments later, officers located the victim, a 28 year-old New Haven resident, in the backyard of an Arch Street residence, police said. The victim had been shot once in the leg. Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical treatment. The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of 938 Dixwell Avenue, police said. Witnesses’ reported hearing “about 5 gunshots,” said Capt. Ronald Smith. Several motor vehicles were struck by gunfire during the incident, police said. The victim was uncooperative with police, police said.
