Police saw the store owner chasing the suspect through a parking lot.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man is accused of shoving a store owner while stealing a cellphone on Monday, according to police. At about 6:15 p.m. on May 28, Officer Andrew Lipford saw the owner of iZeek Wireless chasing a person through the parking lot of 1890 Dixwell Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the store owner subsequently approached Lipford and told him that the person attempted to flee from his store with a stolen cellphone. During the incident, a struggle ensued and the store owner was “pushed backwards” by the suspect, according to Smith.
Moments later a concerned citizen told police that the suspect was seen “running down Palmer Avenue,” Smith said. The suspect was located and arrested.
