Man Shoves Woman To Ground In Attempted Robbery: Hamden Police

Police say the suspect, who ran away, attempted to steal the victim's purse but was pulled off of her by a witness late Thursday night.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating an “attempted strong-arm robbery” in which a 22-year-old woman was shoved to the ground by a man while she was walking toward Walgreens late Thursday night in Hamden. The man attempted to take the victim’s purse but he was pulled off of her by a witness, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

The attempted robbery took place at about 11:45 p.m. on May 16 in the parking at 1191 Dixwell Ave. After the suspect was pulled off the woman, he ran toward the Farmington Canal Trail, according to Smith.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 20 to 30 years old, 6-0 feet tall and “possibly bald,” according to Smith.
