Man Stole $10K In Jewelry, Electronics From Hamden Home: Police
Police say the homeowner found the man hiding in her bedroom before he ran out of the home with the stolen items.

HAMDEN, CT — A Meriden man is accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of jewelry and electronic equipment from a home in Hamden earlier this year. The burglary occurred on Newhall Street in Hamden on Jan. 13, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Rafly Santiago, 30, is accused of forcibly entering the home and stealing jewelry and electronic equipment that was valued at nearly $10,000, according to Smith.
Smith said the homeowner had confronted Santiago, who was hiding inside of her bedroom, and he subsequently ran out of the house with the stolen items. Officer Jeremy Brewer conducted the investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Santiago, which was served on April 11 while he was on Morse Street, according to Smith.

Santiago, 30, of Cook Avenue in Meriden, was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and third-degree criminal trespass. Santiago, who was detained on a court-ordered $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 22.
