Man Threatened To Punch Teen During Home Burglary: Hamden Police
The man is accused of walking into a home, going to an upstairs bedroom and threatening to punch a teen who told him to leave.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man is accused of entering a home, rummaging through bedroom dresser drawers and threatening to punch a 17-year-old resident who confronted him and asked him to leave, according to police.
Police responded to an Adla Drive residence at about 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 on the report of “suspicious activities,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Responding officers were advised that a contractor who was working inside the home saw a man enter the house.
The man, who was later identified as Calvin Armstrong III, was found to have entered the home through the kitchen door. The 17-year-old resident was “cooking” when Armstrong walked past him and went to an upstairs bedroom, according to Smith.

The teen followed Armstrong and saw him “rummaging through the bedroom dresser drawers,” Smith said. When the teen asked him to leave, Armstrong threatened to punch him in the face, according to Smith. Armstrong then walked out toward Howard Drive.
The teen and the contractor initially believed that Armstrong was a contractor who was there to repair the TV, according to Smith.

Moments later, Officer Darryl Cargill and Officer Edward Stoor found Armstrong walking on the sidewalk in the vicinity of Howard Drive. He was placed under arrest, after further investigation, Smith said.
Armstrong III, 42, of Rentell Road in Hamden, was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree threatening and interfering with a police officer. Armstrong, who was detained on a $5,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 23.
