Man Threw Chairs At Officer, Tried To Escape: Hamden Police

Police say the man, who was arrested on the strength of four warrants, threw several chairs at an officer while attempting to escape.

HAMDEN, CT — An East Haven man is accused of throwing several chairs at a Hamden Police officer while at Yale-New Haven Hospital after being arrested on several warrants, according to police. Anthony Dagostino, 32, was arrested Feb. 9 on the strength of four arrest warrants and was detained by the Orange Police Department, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Dagostino, of Laurel Street in East Haven, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, first-degree failure to appear, second-degree failure to appear and violation of probation.

Dagostino was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after he was fingerprinted and photographed by Hamden Police. Smith said Dagostino attempted to escape while at the hospital and threw several chairs at a Hamden Police Officer. He was subsequently apprehended. The officer suffered a knee injury during the incident, according to Smith.

Dagostino, who is being held on a $100,000 court-ordered bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 19.
