Man Tried To Steal $200 In Items From Home Depot: Hamden Police

Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of shoplifting at Home Depot.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of trying to steal $200 worth of items from Home Depot in Hamden.

The attempted theft happened at the Home Depot at 1873 Dixwell Ave. on Jan. 28. A loss prevention officer told police a man left the store with about $200 worth of stolen merchandise, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

The man “dropped the box on the ground” when confronted by store security and left the area in a black Jeep, according to Smith.

The man, pictured, is described as a middle-aged white man who was wearing two “barbell style” ear piercings and dark clothing.
