Men Charged With Copper Theft At Edgerton Park: Hamden Police
Police say 42 copper flashing sections from "Brewster Wall" were stolen, resulting in a loss of about $200,000 to Edgerton Park.
HAMDEN, CT — Two men have been arrested in connection to the theft of 42 copper flashing sections from “Brewster Wall” at Edgerton Park late last year, according to police. The investigation was launched on Dec. 22, 2018 and police found that all of the lead-coated copper flashing had been removed from “Brewster Wall,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said further investigation revealed that 42 copper flashing sections were stolen. The loss sustained by Edgerton Park is estimated at $200,000, which encompasses material and labor, according to Smith.
Police determined that Donald Strait and Justin Barlow were responsible for the theft and both were arrested Tuesday on warrants, according to Smith.

Strait, 47, of Grant Street in New Haven, and Barlow, 47, of Sackett Point Road in North Haven, were each charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief. They were both detained on a court-ordered $5,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 14.
