Missing Middletown Man Seen In Hamden, New Haven: UPDATE

The man has been missing for nearly two weeks and his family is desperately trying to find him.

HAMDEN, CT — A Middletown man who has been missing for nearly two weeks was recently seen in Hamden. Police are asking residents to keep an eye out for Peter Recchia, 60, who was seen in Hamden days after he was reported missing from Middletown.

A Silver Alert was issued for Recchia last week and he is in need of medical assistance.

Recchia is described by police as a white male with gray hair, green eyes and a mustache. He is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.

He is a longtime Middletown resident and was last seen wearing baggy blue jeans, a blue shirt and glasses. He is typically seen walking around town and may appear confused and could run off, according to family members.

Recchia made a “friendly and confused visit to a random kind family in Hamden on October, 3rd around 4 a.m. in the State Street area,” according to his daughter, Bunny Rodriguez.

“We believe he may have walked from Durham around 7 p.m. Wednesday October 2nd through to Hamden, State street area and continuing towards New Haven,” Rodriguez wrote in an update on Facebook. “Please if you own a business and have video around that time frame or was driving or have a ring doorbell please call Detective Lecasse at the Middletown Police 860-638-4134.”

Recchia was last seen on State Street in New Haven at 4:56 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, according to Rodriguez.

The family is asking for any Ring doorbell, car video or business video with him walking southbound in New Haven on that morning.

Hamden Police are also asking anyone who may have seen Recchia, to call them at 203-230-4030.
