Police say the victim was robbed of his motorcycle while he was attempting to fix it after it broke down during the overnight hours.
HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating after a man was robbed at gunpoint of his motorcycle during the overnight hours in Hamden. Police responded to Concord Street at about 2 a.m. on July 5 on the report of a robbery with a firearm, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The victim, a 23-year-old New Haven resident, was attempting to fix his disabled 2014 “Honda IceBear Grom” motorcycle, according to Smith. He told police that while seated on his motorcycle, it was “tapped” by a 2008 gray Volkswagen Jetta. He was then ejected from the motorcycle and fell onto the street, Smith said. The victim wasn’t injured during the incident.
The victim told police that three black males emerged from the vehicle with guns. One the individuals then stole the motorcycle, pushing it toward Dante Place, according to Smith. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, 6-feet tall with a thin build and was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. The other men followed the motorcycle in the Volkswagen Jetta, Smith said.
