Names Sought For Veterans Memorial Monument In Hamden

The town is planning to build a separate granite addition to the Veterans Memorial Monument in front of Hamden Middle School.

Town of Hamden: The Hamden Veteran’s Commission and Mayor Curt Balzano Leng are very pleased to announce that the Town of Hamden is planning to build a separate granite addition to the Veterans Memorial Monument in front of the Hamden Middle School on Dixwell Avenue. The original Wall, which was dedicated July 4, 1989, displays over 8,500 Veterans’ names, and there are another 55 names waiting to be added to a new bronze plaque.

In order to dedicate the new addition this coming fall, more names are needed. If you are a resident of Hamden or entered the military from Hamden, you are eligible with your DD-214 honorable discharge. Current military personnel should submit a letter from their commanding officer verifying that they are presently serving.

To add your name to the list for the next plaque, please visit the Town Clerk’s Office in the Hamden Government Center located at 2750 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden, CT or call 203-287-7028 as soon as possible.
