Garrison Z. “Red” Nieves, 21, of Hamden, died July 1, 2020 from injuries sustained after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his moped.
He was born in Meriden on April 2, 1999, a son of Edwin Nieves and Janice Toucet.

Garrison or "Bubu" how the family called him, was a sweet, funny and a very charismatic young man. Loved by many, he was very talented in art, creating music and liked to meet friends all over the world through social media. He loved entertaining others and being the center of attention, always with a smile and open arms to anyone that needed him.
In addition to his father, Edwin, mother Janice, and his step-mother, Laury Martinez, he is survived by his brothers, Edwin Nieves Jr. and Steven L. Nieves; step-brothers Joshua Martinez and his wife, Leah Migliore, and Elvin Martinez; nieces, Destiny and Jazmine Nieves; his paternal grandmother, Carmen Diaz and and paternal step-grandmother, Rosa Lopez; paternal grandfather, Edwin Nieves Sr.; maternal grandmother, Marisol Toucet; and maternal grandfather, Angel Toucet and step-grandfather, Tony Castro; aunts and uncles, Efrain Nieves, Juan Nieves, Alfredo Nieves, Rosalynn Toucet and Sharon Oquendo; and many cousins and second cousins.
