Obituary: Lewis Boyce, 82; Former Hamden Police Officer
Lewis, a U.S. Army veteran, was a Hamden police officer for 25 years and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Lewis A. Boyce, 82, of Clinton (formerly of Hamden), husband of Jeanne (Milici) Boyce, passed away at home on Monday, September 19, after a lengthy illness.
Lewis was born June 23, 1934, in New Haven, the son of Lewis A. and Alice (Forselius) Boyce. He was a graduate of Hillhouse and attended the University of New Haven.

He was a Police Officer for the Town of Hamden for 25 years attaining the rank of Sergeant. He later worked as a Court Security Officer for the Federal Court in New Haven. Lew was a Sergeant in the US Army serving 4 years.
He was married for more than 60 years and was a devoted and loving husband and father who cherished time with his family. Lew was a kind and caring man who brought happiness to his family and friends with his easy-going nature and great sense of humor

Lew was an avid NY Giants and UConn Women's Basketball fan. He also enjoyed playing his ukelele to the delight of everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, and sons Kevin (Terri) Boyce of Madison and Richard "Ricky" (Amy) Boyce of West Haven; daughters Sheryl Detmer of Milford and Kimberly (Jeffrey) Pearson of Vermont; his 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his sister Beverly and Son-in-Law Joseph Detmer.
