Obituary: Margaret 'Peggy' Sweeney Civitello, 83, of Hamden
She was very proud of her work for the former Echlin's Manufacturing in Branford.

Margaret "Peggy" Sweeney Civitello, 83, of Hamden formerly of East Haven passed away peacefully on September 16, 2016. She was born to the late William and Rose Ricketts Sweeney in East Haven on November 29, 1932.
Margaret married to the late Peter Civitello on August 3rd, 1950. He predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by three sons, Guy (Helene) Civitello, Peter Civitello and Dean (Beth) Civitello, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one sister, Jane Spaziante.

She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Peggy was known as a great cook. Everyone loved to sit around her holiday table and enjoy the fruits of her culinary labor. She was very proud of her work for the former Echlin's Manufacturing in Branford where she made many friends and shared happy moments.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Whitney Manor, 2nd floor for their caring and kind treatment of Margaret. We also want to extend our thanks to the Hospice Care workers that comforted Margaret at the end of her life.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Tuesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in our Lady of Pompeii church at 11:00 Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call TUESDAY MORNING from 9:30-10:30.
