Obituary: Pietro 'Peter' Giano, 85, formerly of Hamden
Peter, a member of Local 455, worked many years in construction for E&F, Fusco and Blakeslee. He cherished family, cooking and the casino.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home) Pietro (Peter) Giano died on February 4, 2021 at Yale New Haven St. Raphael campus after a lengthy illness.
Peter was born on February 9, 1935 in Alvignanello, Italy Province of Caserta. Beloved spouse of the late Carolina Aldi Giano.
Son of the late Teresa Mastroianni Giano and Giuseppe Giano of Italy. He came to America in 1962 and lived in East Haven then Hamden and finally back to East Haven.

He was a laborer with Local 455 and worked with various construction companies in the New Haven area like E&F, Fusco and Blakeslee.
He loved to cook, make limoncelli, scratch off lottery tickets and Mohegan Sun. He loved to make homemade wine, sausage and tomato sauce.

He loved his family and would always remind us that family is important and number one.
Survived by his 3 daughters, Teresa (Keith) Vignola of Hamden, Joanna (Nicholas) Ferraro of East Haven, Josephine (Jeffrey) Brown of Clinton and 8 grandchildren:: Arthur (Amanda) Vignola of Florida, Lauren & Keith Matthew of Hamden, Nicole Ferraro (PJ Magliochetti) of Wallingford, Marcella Ferraro (George Naclerio) of Indiana, Nicholas Ferraro, JR. East Haven, Gianna Brown of Clinton, Matthew Brown of Clinton.
He is also survived by one sister Maria Giano Castaldo in Italy, his dear sister in law Pasqualina (Attilio) Lavecchia of Hamden and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him.
He came from a family of 11 brothers and sisters and was the last brother.
Visiting hours will be on WEDNESDAY in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT from 8:15am-10:15am followed by Mass at 11am in Blessed Sacrament (CBoL) church 321 Circular Ave, Hamden, followed by entombment in St. Lawrence Maosoleum.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc.
