Obituary: Robert Snyder, 85, of Hamden
Robert, a longtime Hamden resident, was a member of the first graduating class of Notre Dame-West Haven in 1950.

Robert Francis Snyder, 85, of Hamden, passed away on October 17, 2016 at Masonicare Health Center Hospice surrounded by family.
Born in Springfield, MA on April 14, 1931 to the late Francis and Emma Wood Snyder. Robert was pre-deceased earlier this year by his loving wife, Irene Malnati Snyder. He will be remembered by his daughters and their husbands, Christina & Andrew Cohen of Hamden, Teresa & James McFerran of Eugene, OR, and Linda Snyder of San Francisco, CA; his grandsons, Michael & James Sasso and Eli McFerran; sister, Anita Rossetti and her husband Ron of North Haven, nieces and nephews Cathy, Tom, Jim, Jackie, Diane, Joanne, and Bill, their spouses, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Predeceased by his brother, Edward Snyder. Robert grew up in West Haven and was a member of the first graduating class of Notre Dame H.S. in 1950. He married Irene in 1960. Robert was a mechanical engineer, having graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Bridgeport. He retired from Raymond Engineering in Middletown.
A Hamden resident for 39 years, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed tennis, woodworking and reading.

Friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. His Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
