Shirley E. Norman 93, of Hamden, died Dec. 31, 2016. Wife of the late Walter Norman. Loving mother of Sharon E. Igoe (Thomas) of Hamden and Donna Sterner (Donald) of Oceanside, N.Y.
Also survived by her cherished grandchildren Sara Baletsa, Katherine Igoe,Sean Igoe and Matthew Sterner. She was predeceased by a son Wayne Norman, sisters Virginia Cleveland, Louise Nordstrom and brothers Thomas and Robert Cowan.

Shirley was born in Hartford, September 4, 1923 daughter of the late Thomas L. and Blanche Dow Cowan. She proudly served her country during the Korean War in the US Navy Nurse Corp. Prior to her retirement she was an RN at the former Lydia Hall Hospital in Freeport, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden on Saturday, January 14th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Middletown State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to the CT. Nurses Foundation, 377 Research PKWY, 2d, Meriden, CT. 06450 or American Lung Association, 45 Ash St. East Hartford, CT. 06108.
