Obituary: Theresa C. Girardi Montanaro, 87, of Hamden

She was a seamstress for many years and worked for the former Strouse-Adler Co. of New Haven.

Theresa C. Girardi Montanaro, 87, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Edwin Montanaro who passed away this past August 5th.

Theresa was born in New Haven on July 13, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Aniello “Henry” and Assunta “Julia” Gaudioso Girardi. She was a seamstress for many years and had worked for the former Strouse-Adler Co. of New Haven. Theresa enjoyed exercising and doing aerobics in her earlier years. As an active grandmother, Theresa loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, always being present for academic awards and watching UCONN girls basketball with her best friend, “Ed”. Mother of Edward J. Montanaro and his wife Tamela, Lisa A. Hernandez and her husband Tony. Grandmother of Edward Montanaro, Terren Lawlor, Anthony & Alyssa Montanaro, Jenna, Anthony and Alexander Hernandez. Great-Grandmother of Emma and Luke Lawlor. Sister of Anthony Girardi and the late Henry “Babe” Girardi.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Saturday morning, November 10th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
