Obituary: Vincent F. Fappiano, 97, Of Hamden

Above all else he loved his family, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up over the years.

Vincent Francis Fappiano, 97, of Hamden, formerly of West Haven, husband of the late Doris Sarsfield Fappiano, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018. He was born in New Haven on May 2, 1921 to the late Antonio and Antoinette Botte Fappiano. Vincent is survived by his sons; David (Arlene), Gary, and Vincent (Linda Hill) Fappiano, Jr., sister, Gloria Coppola, brother, Lucia Fappiano, son-in-law Anthony Mastroianni, grandchildren; Christine Guerrera, Myriah Fappiano, Jennifer Castiglia, Michael Fappiano, Anthony, Marissa, and Daniel Mastroianni, Christopher, Casey, Cory, and Carey Hill-Fappiano, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Ellen Mastroianni, and several brothers and sisters.

After honorably serving in the Navy during WWII, Vincent went on to work for the Fusco Amatruda Corporation in New Haven, then Cuzzocreo Acres Farm in Orange. Most recently he was a self-employed Mason in the New Haven area until his retirement. In his free time he was an avid bowler, enjoyed going to the casino, and watching UCONN women’s basketball. Above all else he loved his family, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up over the years.

Friends are invited to visit with Vincent’s family on Friday, May 25 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Rita Church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
