Pair Charged with Children’s Center Burglary: Hamden Police

Police say that two residents of the Children's Center broke their way into a staff member's office and stole a cellphone.

HAMDEN, CT — Two residents of the Children’s Center in Hamden face charges after police say they broke into a staff member’s office and stole a cellphone.

Hamden Police responded to the Children’s Center, located at 1400 Whitney Avenue, on Friday, Dec. 9 on the report of a burglary, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that residents Justin Born and a 15 year-old forcibly opened the window of a staff member’s office and stole a cellphone once they were inside.

Detective Mark Consorte conducted the investigation, which led to the arrests of Born and the juvenile. They were charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

Born is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 23. The 15 year-old is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven.
