Pair Robbed At Gunpoint During Drug Deal: Hamden Police

Two people reported to police that they were robbed while attempting to purchase marijuana late Thursday night.

HAMDEN, CT — Two people were robbed at gunpoint while attempting to purchase marijuana late Thursday night in Hamden, according to police.

While police were investigating an unrelated incident, at about 11:45 p.m. on April 6, they were approached by two people who said they were victims of an armed street robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the victims, who are both Hamden residents, drove to West Helen Street to purchase marijuana. Upon arrival, the male victim “showed” an undisclosed amount of money to two individuals, according to Smith. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The individuals, who were described as black males, who were wearing hooded sweatshirts, attempted to “grab” the money from the male victim, according to Smith.

Smith said the victim’s ring was stolen during the incident and one of the suspects was brandishing a firearm.

Officer Kelley Groleau and her K-9 partner “Sar” conducted a track in an attempt to locate the individuals but it was unsuccessful.
