Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run: Hamden Police

The victim was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A 51-year-old Hamden woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street early Sunday morning, according to police. The victim was crossing Dixwell Avenue in the vicinity of Morse Street at about 2 a.m. on July 1 when she was struck by a dark-colored SUV in the northbound lane of Dixwell Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the vehicle fled after striking the victim. Investigators report that the vehicle should have "passenger side front-end damage," according to Smith.

The victim taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment and died later in the morning, according to Smith. Police have not released the woman’s identity.
