Police Arrest Man at Scene of Overnight Car Burglary in Hamden

Police say the man broke into a car and stole the vehicle's license plate at 3:30 a.m.: BREAKING

HAMDEN, CT — A 22-year-old Hamden man faces burglary charges after police arrested him at the scene of an overnight car break-in.

Hamden Police responded to a Highview Terrace residence on the report of a burglary at about 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 10, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Jason Garcia forcibly entered a parked motor vehicle. Garcia subsequently stole the vehicle’s license plate, according to Smith.

Officer Edward Stoor arrested Garcia at the site of the burglary and he was transported to police headquarters.

Garcia, of the 3000 block of Whitney Avenue, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal trespass. He was detained on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 23.
