Special Brush, Tree Limb Pickup Announced In Hamden

The town is adding a special brush and tree limb pickup of the debris that fell during the recent winter storm, officials announced.

HAMDEN, CT — The town will be adding a special brush and tree limb pickup of the debris that fell during the recent winter storm, Mayor Curt Balzano Leng and Public Works Director Craig Cesare announced. Residents are asked to put the brush and limbs at the curb and pickup of the piles will start on a town-wide schedule, beginning Monday, Jan. 28. The town usually only takes small amounts of brush during leaf season, but due to the “extraordinary weather events, the town is taking the extra steps to assist,” according to a press release.

Residents are asked to make sure to have all of the tree limbs and brush out to the curb by Jan. 28 in neat piles, as officials say there will be only one opportunity to utilize this added service. Public Works will only accept brush and tree limbs of manageable size, large stumps and tree trunks will not be accepted.

“Hamden could really use this extra-service, as many of our neighborhoods were impacted by the extreme winter storm we experienced this month,” Leng said. “This collection service will be conducted during normal working hours and will incur no additional expenses outside of regular operations.”
