Speeding Driver Had Loaded Gun, Drugs: Hamden Police

A man was arrested on several charges after a traffic stop in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested after police say he had a loaded 9mm gun on the front passenger seat and was found to be the possession of drugs during a traffic stop late Saturday night. Lamar Morrison, 30, was pulled over after an officer saw a vehicle speeding on Morse Street at about 11:45 p.m. on March 24, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

During the traffic stop, police saw a loaded 9mm gun on the front passenger seat and Morrison was arrested and searched, according to Smith. Police seized two ecstasy pills and a bag of marijuana from Morrison, Smith said.

Morrison, of Central Avenue in New Haven, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to obey stop sign. Morrison, who was detained on a $25,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 4.
